What about the national dailies? The same page lists “from” prices for Dainik Bhaskar (Rs 235 for 20 words), Dainik Jagran (Rs 92 for 6 lines), Hindustan Times (Rs 250 for 5 lines), Amar Ujala (Rs 200 for 25 words) and Times of India (Rs 70 for 5 lines). Those are the cheapest edition anywhere in India, not a Punjab or Chandigarh edition price, so ask for a quote for the exact edition you want before comparing them with the table above.
Classified vs display: two very different costs
Text classifieds are the small, word-count ads in the property section. They suit a dealer selling or renting a single flat or plot. You pay by words or lines.
Display classifieds and display ads have a box, a photo or a logo, and are priced per square centimetre. They suit builders announcing a launch or an open house. The jump in cost is large. releaseMyAd’s official Jagbani display rate card for July to December 2026 lists the main paper in colour at Rs 900 per sq cm for the Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Chandigarh editions, with 5% GST extra. Another agency, Riyo Advertising, lists a Rs 600 per sq cm base rate for the same three editions and Rs 18 per line for text classifieds.
A worked example: a modest display ad 10 cm wide and 12 cm tall is 120 sq cm. At Rs 600 to Rs 900 per sq cm, that is Rs 72,000 to Rs 1,08,000 for one insertion in one paper, before 5% GST. Other numbers from the same Jagbani rate card:
- Smallest display ad: 3 cm by 5 cm, which is Rs 13,500 at Rs 900 per sq cm.
- Quarter page (25 cm by 16.5 cm): about Rs 3.7 lakh in the Jalandhar, Ludhiana or Chandigarh edition.
- Half page: about Rs 7.4 lakh.
- Front page, back page and page 3: a 50% to 200% premium on top.

When a property ad in newspaper still makes sense
Print has not disappeared in Punjab. Punjab Kesari, Jagbani and Ajit alone list over 19 lakh copies a day between them across their editions. Print still works in a few specific cases:
- Older buyers and landowners. Older buyers and sellers of agricultural land and old houses may be more likely to read the Sunday property pages than to browse portals.
- Small towns. In towns where few people search property portals, the local edition is still where a “for sale” ad gets seen.
- Legal and public notices. Some notices, such as for lost documents or title claims, need a newspaper publication by law or by the bank’s demand. This is a separate category with its own rates.
- Launch credibility. A large project launch ad in The Tribune tells buyers and channel partners the builder is serious.
Print works less well for younger buyers, NRIs, rentals in Tricity and anyone who wants to track exactly which ad produced which call.
Newspaper ad vs digital ad: the same money compared
| Newspaper display ad | Meta or Google ads | |
|---|---|---|
| Example spend | Rs 72,000 to Rs 1,08,000 for one insertion | The same money is 72 to 108 days at Rs 1,000 a day |
| How long it runs | One day | Every day of the budget |
| Targeting | Everyone who buys that edition | Location, age, interest, search terms |
| Tracking | Only if you use a separate phone number | Every click and lead is counted |
| RERA details required | Yes | Yes |
The fair comparison is cost per site visit. Use a dedicated phone number in the newspaper ad so you can count calls, and compare with what your digital ads deliver. Our guides to Google Ads cost for real estate and real estate cost per lead in India give the digital side.

RERA rules apply to print too
Every advertisement for a registered project must carry the RERA registration number and the Authority’s website address, and that includes newspaper ads. Section 11(2) of the RERA Act makes no exception for print. Agents advertising projects must also be RERA registered. See our guides to RERA advertising rules for Punjab builders and Punjab RERA agent registration.
How to book a property ad in newspaper
- Choose the paper by reader, not circulation. A Punjabi daily for a plot in a rural belt. An English daily for a premium flat in Mohali.
- Pick the city edition. Most papers sell city or zone editions, which cost less than the full state.
- Write tight copy. Location, size, price, one feature, phone number, RERA number if it is a project.
- Book online or through an agency. Online booking sites show rates and handle composing for text ads.
- Track calls. Use a separate number or ask every caller where they saw the ad.

FAQ: property ad in newspaper
How much does a property ad in newspaper cost in Punjab?
Text classifieds start at about Rs 330 to Rs 875 depending on the paper and edition, according to releaseMyAd’s listed rates. Display ads are priced per sq cm, Rs 900 per sq cm in Jagbani’s main Punjab editions, so a modest 10 cm by 12 cm ad costs about Rs 1.08 lakh for one insertion.
Which newspaper is best for a property ad in Punjab?
It depends on the buyer. Punjab Kesari, Jagbani and Ajit list the largest circulations, while the Tribune city editions reach English readers in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. Match the paper to who buys your property.
What is the difference between classified and display property ads?
Classifieds are small text ads priced by words or lines. Display ads have a box, images or a logo and are priced per square centimetre, which makes them far more expensive.
Do newspaper property ads need a RERA number?
Yes, for registered projects. Section 11(2) of the RERA Act requires every advertisement, in print or online, to show the RERA registration number and the Authority’s website.
Is a newspaper ad better than online ads for property?
For older buyers, land sellers and small towns, print can still work. For tracking leads and reaching younger buyers and NRIs, digital ads usually give more control per rupee.
